Spring Therapy: Refresh and Revive
Angela and I attended a talk at Decorex about this time last year by the inspirational Sophie Robinson, where she presented some ideas about colour psychology. The idea is that each one of us has our own seasonal personality that we are intrinsically drawn to, from the warm russets and golds of autumn, the dramatic monochrome of winter, to the relaxed sun-bleached mid tones of summer. Here I will talk a little about Spring!
If all seasons have their own personality then spring is energetic, optimistic, and joyful. This colour palette brings soft warmth, including pastel shades of gentle yellows, pale blues, calm greens and blush pinks. These colours create a feeling of space, light and optimism, making them idea for sociable spaces such as the living room.
In my own living room I have loved adding some touches of this shade recently, it has brought a greater depth to the space whilst creating a feeling of calm and light. In terms of textures, rattan, wicker and woven natural materials work beautifully with this palette. I have mixed in woven cotton throws with thicker woollen cushions, and brought in lots of colourful baskets for storing away the black remote controls as well as lots of colourful kids toys.
Here we have put together a ‘Cocoon my Room’ board of ways you can bring that little touch of Spring sunshine into your home. Enjoy!
